Puppy & Kitten Care
Whether this is your first pet or an addition to your animal pack, caring for a puppy or kitten is a lot of work, in addition to all the fun. We are here to help you with every stage of their life. With regular puppy and kitten care, we make sure your pet receives the best start at a long, happy, and healthy life.
|
Wellness
We will begin each visit with a comprehensive and educational head to tail examination of your pet.
We will diagnose and treat common problems such as fleas, worms, and ear mites found in puppies and kittens.
We will also take the time to answer any of your questions and set up a vaccination schedule.
|
Behavior Training and Socialization
Kittens and puppies require lots of love and play at home, but that is not all they need. To help them feel secure in the world, they should be socialized early and often with other humans and vaccinated animals.
It is never too early to begin behavior training. If you don't want puppy chewing your shoes or kitty climbing the curtains, it's important to set boundaries and teach commands.
At your wellness exams, we will answer your training questions, make suggestions tailored to you and your pet's unique situation and offer recommendations for puppy training and socialization classes.

Diet
Think of your pet's diet as lifestyle fuel. Puppies and kittens need small-bite food designed for their young age to fuel their minds and bodies for growth, learning and energetic play.
We can guide you in selecting a high-quality food and setting a feeding schedule. Sometimes our little friends need special diets due to food allergies or intolerances, which can manifest in upset stomach and skin problems.
We recommend puppy and kitten diets from brands:
- Hill’s Pet Nutrition
- Purina
- Royal Canine
- IAMS

Parasite Control in Puppies & Kittens
Parasites are especially dangerous in kittens and puppies because their small, young bodies are less able to fight their invaders.
Many over-the-counter flea, tick and mosquito prevention medications are not suitable for young puppies and kittens, so it is especially important to discuss your options at your wellness exams.
We can prescribe preventative flea, tick and heartworm medications to best meet your young pet's needs.

Spay & Neuter
Spaying or neutering your kitten or puppy not only helps control the overpopulated cat and dog problem, but it is also a benefit to your pet's health.
Generally, kittens and puppies can be safely spayed or neutered when they are 6 months of age.
In females, early spaying before the first heat reduces the chance of mammary tumors, and in female kittens, early spaying before the first heat reduces the risk of cancers.
In males, early neutering reduces the chance of testicular cancer, prostate disease, and other health risks.
During all surgeries, pets are carefully monitored by our highly-trained staff and by the latest, state-of-art technology.
Price may vary based on pets age and size, please call (614) 272-0162 to schedule an appointment to get an estimate.
